Currently – Volume 11

Currently - Volume 11I’m back! I took most of June off from blogging to come back refreshed and rejuvenated.  I missed you all and I’m so glad to be back in the swing of things.

I’m linking up with In Residence and Gold & Bloom today for Currently – Volume 11 to tell you what I’ve been up to for the past month.

Craving  – Lattes.  What’s new though?

Grilling – not much of anything.  We have grills in the courtyard at our apartment complex but it’s been raining a lot this week.  Hopefully we can try the grill soon.

Listening – to Apple Music.  I signed up for the 3-month free trial to see what it what I thought of Apple’s new service.  So far I think the app is fun, but that’s about as far as I’ve gotten.  Have you signed up to try it?

Planning  – to enjoy the rest of my week off.  My husband and I are having a stay-cation this entire week and it has been so wonderful to be able to spend all day with him.

Decorating – our spare bedroom.  My husband let me turn the room in to an office for my blogging and jewelry boutique and I’m planning on spending part of my week off making it even more organized.

I’m linking up with In Residence and Gold & Bloom today for Currently – Volume 10 to tell you what I’ve been up to lately.

Playing  – not much of anything.  A couple of weeks ago I bought my husband and I Monopoly because we talked about wanting to play a board game together one night and we didn’t have any 2-person games.  Unfortunately I’m one of the only people in the world (or at least in our apartment) that likes Monopoly so we have yet to open the box.

Going – to the racetrack at the fairgrounds to see a race this weekend.  My husband loves all things cars (the above picture is him racing last year as a birthday present) so I was able to get us both tickets through my work so we could go.  I’m really looking forward to having a very different date night than we usually have on Saturday night. 

Wearing – This necklace all. the. time.  Chloe + Isabel’s summer collection came out recently and I am obsessed.  I think you should get yourself a little something to celebrate summer 😉

Sipping  –  Tons and tons of water.  I’m trying to get in shape before my husband and I go on vacation with my dad and his girlfriend in August and my Starbucks addiction had to go.  I figured I was consuming all my extra calories in drinks, so now I’m trying to stick with mostly water and the occasional coffee with very minimal cream.  It’s torture I tell you. Torture.

Reading – Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier.  Growing up loved the Alfred Hitchock movie version but I’ve never read the book before.  It felt wrong to not have read a book with your name as the title, so when it went on sale on Kindle last week, I decided it was time to change the situation.  So far I’m enjoying it.

My Nightly Routine

My Nightly RoutineI’m always amazed by how quickly my husband can jump into bed when he’s ready to go to sleep. My nightly routine is such a process. I have to take out my contacts, remove my make-up, wash my face, take my pills, brush my teeth, and then I can finally climb into bed. Some nights when I’m exhausted and I fall asleep on the couch watching TV, the whole nightly routine just becomes too much and usually my face ends up suffering.

I had gotten really lazy for a while about making sure my makeup was removed and my face was washed before going to bed. This laziness added to the usual stress acne I get when life gets really hectic, was wreaking havoc on my face. When I was fortunate enough to be able to try Frangipani Body Products, I made a commitment to take the time every night to make sure my face was clean before hopping into bed.

Frangipani skin care products are created without harmful chemicals, synthetics or additives and are made with mostly floral and other natural ingredients. I loved that I could trust that what I was putting on my face wasn’t going to be harsh or cause damage to my skin. My Nightly Routine

My triple set came in the cutest packaging and smelled like something good enough to eat (don’t worry, I only put it on my face) and even from the very first night I used it, I noticed a difference in my skin. After being very regular about removing my makeup and using the products for several weeks, my ache really cleared up and I noticed that I didn’t break out as much after stressful situations. The grapefruit body oil that my set came with made my legs so smooth that even my husband commented on how soft they were. I learned a very valuable lesson that taking the 5 extra minutes at the end of night to take care of my face with the right kind of products is so important!

Summer Lovin' - Marriage And Relationship Goals

Now that summer is almost officially here, I’m looking forward to all the activities that my husband and I can do outside. I feel like so often we get caught in a rut of doing the same Saturday night dinner and a movie date nights that we miss out on new experiences that we could be having together.  This month I want to change that.

I want to use the month of June to get out and enjoy the beautiful weather and try new things that we’ve never done before, or go to place that we’ve never been.  I feel like it’s so important to schedule regular quality time with your spouse, but it’s also just as important to make that time feel new and exciting.  We’ve spent a lot of time recently binge watching shows on Netflix or going on the occasional dinner date, but we haven’t branched out much more than that.  Nashville has so much to offer in the way of outdoor activities that I want to make sure we are taking advantage and continuing to explore and adventure with one another.

Four Perfect Words - Thankful Thursday

Sometimes when women get stressed or emotional, I think men tend to want to “fix” the situation.  I know sometimes when I vent to my husband he wants to offer me solutions that will change the reason I’m feeling down, when all I really want is to feel heard.

This past weekend I got my Sunday night blues a day late thanks to the holiday.  I was feeling stressed and emotional and very upset about a situation that was out of my control.  I couldn’t help but worry about it even though there was nothing I could do to change it.  Instead of telling me what I should do to fix it, my husband just enveloped me in a big hug and said four perfect words, “Everything’s Going To Be Ok.”

In that moment,  that was exactly what I needed to hear. He had my back and that we were a team.  No matter what came our way, we would face it together.  Even though the situation felt out of my control, he believed in me and would be there for me.

I’m thankful for how he supports me.  I’m thankful that he sees my dreams as realistic and does whatever he can to help me obtain them.  I’m thankful that even when it feels like the whole world is falling apart, he knows the perfect words to say.  And they might sound silly but in that moment he knew exactly what I needed, and there are very few more wonderful blessings than having someone in your life that recognizes that.
